UPDATE: Looks like we found the root problem! A fix has been implemented and will be included in our next release to the Android Market.
We've heard from several of our users that ASTRO's toolbar is not visible for some Android 4.0 devices. We are currently looking into this issue and hope to offer an update ASAP.

I just ran into this myself. I did not see this when my Xoom updated to 4.0.3, but it just showed up. WHat it turned out to be was turning on the developer option Force GPU Rendering. Turn that off, and hte toolbar icons are back.
Never mind my last posting--I was running an older beta and encountering other issues. I have since resolved them and am on the latest--and cannot see the toolbar at all.
@Chris Laudermilk: thx for your post. it helped me. I have Nexus S with ICS without root
I turned of GPU rendering and toolbar is visible.
So in order to use one app I have to turn off rendering for all the others. Or, they could fix the problem. Hmmm.
Yes, clearly solve the problem off the GPU rendering.
Do you fix it?
Sort of. On beta build 3.0-dev.35223425 you can see the toolbar whe the GPU force is turned off. On the latest (3.0-dev.37603425) you cannot see the toolbar either way. I've reverted to the older beta.
